Carpathian Chamois is indigenous to only Carpathian mountains and Transylvanian Alps in Romania. It is considered to be the largest of all 10 subspecies that are recognized by SCI and has the longest horn length in average. World record of this subspecies is over 11’’which is unusually big for the other races. The population of this subspecies was estimated around 9000 back in 1990 national surveys. They are far from being in danger and doing well. Owing to good populations the hunting of this race requires only 4 days schedule with only 2 days reserved for hunting....
